Cats are gentically wired to HUNT, thus the draw to the outdoors (where the critters are!) Taking your cat outdoors can give it a lot of stimulation and help to burn off some of the pent up "hunt energy". That doesn't mean you should turn your cat outside to free roam - please don't do that. Be safe; get your cat comfortable wearing a harness at an early age. Make sure your cat always feels safe while on a walk; pick your cat up when dogs are nearby, etc. Take treats on the walk and give them often during the walk so the cat associates walks with good things. Start out slow by not going far. Cats don't need to go too far; their comfort zone is a relatively small radius. Most of all, both of you have fun!
